Aespa‘s Karina isn’t afraid to show all of her feelings, on or off camera—and that makes her a relatable queen. But it’s her latest reaction at the “2024 Melon Music Awards” that has fans going, “Karina is us.”

At the “2024 Melon Music Awards,” (G)I-DLE‘s Soyeon put all speculations of the girl group’s “uncertain future” to rest with a surprise announcement about her and the members’ exclusive contracts with CUBE Entertainment.

(G)I-DLE’s Soyeon Confirms All Members Have Renewed Their Contracts With Cube Entertainment

As she accepted the “Record of the Year” Daesang award, Soyeon said the group spoke with the company before taking the stage and agreed on renewing.

There have been many articles about my contract [with the company] expiring which would lead to (G)I-DLE disbanding. But I can tell you that not just myself, but all five of us have renewed our contracts. We talked about this [with the company] before coming up on this stage today. Whether it’s next year or the year after, the five of us will be together for the rest of our lives, so please don’t worry. We will repay everyone with good music next year.

Listening in the audience was all four aespa members—but Karina seemed particularly “stressed.” As soon as Soyeon led with “I have one last thing to say,” Karina was seen putting her hand over her heart, bracing for whatever news that was about to hit her.

Only when Soyeon made it clear that all five members’ contracts had been renewed, she started applauding in relief—right along with (G)I-DLE fans.
