K-pop girl group aespa has proven its impact in the music scene with "Supernova."
On December 2, NME officially announced its list of the "50 Best Songs of 2024," which ranked the most popular and successful music releases in 2024. The rankings included songs from artists around the world and a few K-pop tracks were mentioned.
The rankings included K-pop artists such as Rosé for her viral duet with Bruno Mars in "APT." (No. 14), ILLIT due to the breakthrough bop "Magnetic" (No. 27), KATSEYE for pop debut "Touch" (No. 43) and KISS OF LIFE for its sensational comeback, "Sticky" (No. 46). However, aespa was the only K-pop group that managed to make it to the Top 10.
Placing in No. 9, aespa's hit track "Supernova" earned the spot. The outlet recalled how the song caught the attention of NASA, which supported the quartet's song. The song also affirmed the girl group's capabilities in threading "uncharted territory" across the music scene.
"Supernova" is the pre-release track of the group's first-ever studio album "Armageddon," which was released on May 13.
With aespa gaining the upper hand in the rankings, the group also managed to secure the top spot as the No. 1 K-pop song in NME's list.
On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), aespa's fans, MYs, celebrated the girls' achievement. Read their reactions below:
