In 2024, the full star-studded cast for the fantasy remake of the webtoon Omniscient Reader was revealed, including BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo, Lee Min Ho, and many more.
Yet, as the premiere loomed and more information was released, it sparked more concerns among netizens who criticized the project.
Recently, the character posters of the stars were posted, including huge stars like Jisoo, Lee Min Ho, and Ahn Hyo Seop.
The trailer was also released, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect, including glimpses of all the top stars.
The comments were full of scathing criticism, with many referring to issues with the project, including deleting many of the characters with roots in Korean history and changing them to Japanese ones, which is controversial due to the countries’ past and the general quality of the release, including the acting. Netizens also stated that they were going to boycott the project.

- Not watching it. I was already too disappointed in the original webtoon creator, so I have no interest in the movie either.
- Traitor, yep.
- What happened with the original work????? Tell me too, please ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
- Feels like a Japanese webtoon drama.
- Who’s acting in it?
- Boycotting the traitor.

-
It’s just a teaser, but the acting lolololol it’s insanely bad. Just let it flop. The video looks so cheap.
-
Maybe it’s because they previously changed the independence activist into a Japanese sorcerer, but changing the sword into a gun also feels kind of off.
Others also discussed the problematic nature of the production company.

-
Now it’s got both a misogynistic company and Japan fetish vibes. Gross.
-
They’re trying so hard to cater to Korean men and Japanese sensibilities. Tsk tsk.
-
I wasn’t going to watch it because of the production company’s screw-up,
but after seeing the teaser, looks like the general public won’t watch it either. F**k lol.
The movie is scheduled to be released in July 2025.
