During one of Lisa’s radio appearances in the US, Lisa was reportedly asked about which country she considered to be her home. The Thai media outlet Diva Phoenix covered the statement in a later report, which suddenly attracted the attention of Korean netizens.

The question specifically asked the BLACKPINK member, “As a solo artist, you’re active globally, traveling all over the world. Where does it feel like home the most?” Lisa responded, “I think it’s probably, definitely Korea.” Notably, Lisa reportedly holds permanent residency in Korea, which gives her the legal status of a resident.

A recent post on Theqoo reposted this particular part of Lisa’s old interview, garnering significant attention. The OP (original poster) also pointed out that after the interview was published, Thai netizens reacted to her answer with understanding and humor. Some of the comments mentioned in the post included, “I had hoped that Lisa would someday return to Thailand and become prime minister, but that dream has been shattered,” and It’s not unexpected because Korea made Lisa. If she hadn’t gone to Korea and stayed in Thailand, she probably would’ve ended up in BNK48 (Thai version of Japan’s AKB48).”

The post has garnered over 77,000 views and hundreds of comments expressing admiration and surprise at Lisa’s honest answer and Thai netizens’ mature reaction.

  • “I really like how it’s clear that Lisa puts effort into showing love for both Korea and Thailand.”
  • “Her members must be good people.”
  • “She grew up working in Korea from a young age, so it’s understandable.”
  • “Lisa probably got permanent residency pretty easily since she pays more taxes than most Koreans lol..”
  • “She probably wouldn’t even answer ‘Thailand’ in the first place. Thailand is her real hometown, so what’s the point of saying it there… Saying ‘Thailand’ is kind of like when someone asks ‘What do you want to eat?’ and you answer ‘What I’m eating right now.’ She was just giving the answer that fit the question.”
  • “I’m not really a fan, so I don’t know much, but I vaguely thought she would say her hometown. Guess not… If you live in Korea for a long time, that kind of thing can happen.”
