Recently, it was announced that RM was included in a list created by The Pixel Project.

The Pixel Project is a non-profit organization “whose mission is to raise awareness, funds, and volunteer power for the cause to end violence against women through campaigns, initiatives, projects, and programs at the intersection of social media, new technologies, and popular culture/the Arts.

RM was included in The Pixel Project’s “16 Male Role Models Helping to Stop Violence Against Women” list, with the organization citing the steps he took in order to address concerns of misogynistic lyrics.

The list was shared on the organization’s website on December 4, but was only recently discovered and reposted on X. While many were proud of the idol’s inclusion, others shared vastly different opinions.

Some netizens felt that RM’s inclusion in the list was not appropriate, citing the idol’s past interactions with an accused rapist. Many, however, pointed to the actions of fans, claiming the idol did not act as a role model and discourage misogynist behavior, in addition to the contributions of the others on the list.

You literally stand for NOTHING , at the very least u can't even tell your andrew tate descendants fans to stop harassing female idols. Instead you and your bandmates go on coddling them saying " we love them NO MATTER WHAT " https://t.co/gf8gj4VVKN pic.twitter.com/8Cb00p2vUC

i don’t think someone ‘unlearning misogyny’ should warrant them to be labelled as a role model making positive impacts on women https://t.co/CCbnceqq1l pic.twitter.com/pUIrpeuHtf

no but genuinely thinking outside of kpop for a minute why do awards like this even exist? why should men be rewarded for not being a misogynist and for not beating up women? https://t.co/rtJza46I4g

Fans of the idol defended him against the negative comments, citing the steps that he took to learn from previous criticism.

Namjoon literally got blacklisted by korean men for being a women supporter. He is never going to be the bad guy y'all want him to be. https://t.co/Ov1RZU4Nbz

"what impact" he's the reason why hybe has gender sensitivity training for their trainees. Can't say the same for other idols https://t.co/SBoo3dVgvk pic.twitter.com/ktxkPSWCsa

genuinely wish people on here would understand how important it is for feminism in a country where men r punching pregnant women in the face over an assigned seat on public transportation to have men on their side, being open abt educating themselves & unlearning certain things https://t.co/fLzxJiojmV
