2NE1 member CL and YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk reportedly held a meeting recently, sparking anticipation about the girl group’s future.

According to multiple industry insiders, the two recently met in private to discuss 2NE1’s future, continuing the pattern of periodic meetings since the 15th anniversary reunion of the group in 2024.

This meeting has teased anticipation for 2NE1’s future, given the group’s sustained success. The 2024 reunion was marked by the Welcome Back world tour, which drew massive footfall across the 12 sold-out shows in 11 countries. The group is currently active under the same model as most veteran K-Pop groups—promoting under YG Entertainment as a group and pursuing solo activities under different agencies.
2NE1 also performed this year at a major US music festival and is set to perform at the upcoming Waterbomb Bali 2025, proving their timeless popularity.

When media outlets reached out to YG Entertainment to confirm the details of the meeting between CL and Yang, an official representative responded, “Since it was a private meeting, we can’t confirm any specific details.”
Despite the vague response, the reports about CL and Yang’s meeting have stirred heated discussions, given that YG’s 2025 Sustainability Report on June 30 excluded 2NE1 from their official artist list. Netizens are speculating that the group might continue short-term and project-specific deals with the label. Without a contract renewal, 2NE1 wouldn’t be able to release new music under their name, unless YG Entertainment grants explicit permission. Hence, fans are left wondering if CL and Yang’s meeting could lead to more activities for 2NE1.
