[CONCERT RECAP] UNIS Brings a ‘SWICY’ Celebration to Manila for Their Fan Concert

1 week ago 23

UNIS marked a successful return to the Philippine concert stage on August 9 at the New Frontier Theater, nearly a year since their last visit.

The girl group, which debuted in March 2024, has been steadily rising in the K-pop scene, building both a global fanbase and a strong connection with Filipino EverAfters. Presented by SBTown, this fan concert was their second in the country, following their Manila and Cebu stops for UNIS in Curiousland in October 2024.

The evening opened with an explosion of energy as the girls burst onto the stage with their latest single “SWICY” from their recent EP, quickly followed by “DDANG!” and “From a seed called ‘Hey, what’s up?’” The cheers that greeted them set the tone for the rest of the night, a celebration not only of music but of the bond between UNIS and their fans.

EverAfters, UNIS’ 9th Member

Beyond the music, the night highlighted the group’s closeness with their fans. In the opening ment, Elisia warmly declared that they treat their EverAfters as their “9th member,” a sentiment that echoed throughout the show. That bond was made even more tangible during the interactive games segment, where fans from the VVIP and VIP sections joined the members on stage. Lucky participants won tour shirts or cherished selfies taken directly with the girls on their own phones: keepsakes sure to last a lifetime.

The concert continued with a well-balanced mix of UNIS’ signature bright pop and heartfelt tracks. Songs like “Butterfly’s Dream,” “Dopamine (UNIS ver.),” and “Poppin’” had the crowd dancing and singing along, while “Spring Rain” slowed the pace, showing the group’s softer, more sentimental side.

Heartfelt Messages and Gehlee’s Birthday

As the show reached its mid-point, UNIS performed “Spring Rain” and “Dream of Girls (UNIS ver.),” before taking time to speak sincerely to their fans. Elisia expressed her hope to return with a bigger venue and even more performances, saying, “Mahal na mahal kayo ng UNIS!” Yunha added her gratitude: “Thank you for the amazing and happy memories in Manila. I’ll show you a better side next time, so stay tuned.”

The spotlight also turned to Gehlee, who is celebrating her 18th birthday this August. Her voice trembled with emotion as she addressed the crowd: “Pinas! My heart is extremely full right now. I missed you so much. Thank you for making my 18th birthday so special. Salamat po at mahal na mahal ko kayo.” It was a defining moment of the night, intimate, personal, and deeply moving for both the fans and Gehlee herself.

From there, the group carried the energy back up, performing “Superwoman,” their powerful debut single, and “Curious,” their first comeback track. Just before the finale, the members were surprised by a touching fan project: a video tribute and banner event prepared by EverAfters as a show of appreciation for UNIS’ journey. Overwhelmed, several members were brought to tears. Elisia even admitted, “How can we perform our last song now?” hinting that she didn’t want the evening to end.

A Night to Remember

The show wrapped up with fans from the upper tiers joining in group photo ops and enjoying a high-touch session, giving higher ticket tier holders a chance to share a brief but meaningful connection with the members. For UNIS, the night was a reminder of the unwavering support they continue to receive from their Filipino fans; for EverAfters, it was a reaffirmation that their love has been felt and treasured since day one.

More than just a concert, August 9 became a milestone for both UNIS and EverAfters, a celebration of growth, music, and shared memories. As the theater lights dimmed, one thing was certain: this was not just a return, but the promise of an even brighter future together.
