CYE's Ma Jing Xiang's Fans Raise Safety Concerns After A Sasaeng Pretended to be Security at the Airport

After JTBC's survival program Project 7 aired in October last year, its seven-member project boy group is now preparing for its launch in 2025 with the name Close Your Eyes (CYE).

While the group is yet to debut under the label UNCORE, the septet is enjoying global popularity thanks to the solid fandom they formed through the show's airing.

In fact, even before their official entry in the music scene, CYE was already included in the lineup for the 39th Golden Disc Awards to be pre-recorded on Jan. 4-5.

Ahead of the ceremony, the team appeared at the Incheon International Airport on Jan. 2 to depart to Fukuoka, Japan, the upcoming ceremony's venue.

Shockingly, the group was sent off by a flock of fans earnestly waiting to see a glimpse of them. Among the videos shared, K-Netizens hyped the Chinese-born Ma Jing Xiang the most, who also secured first place in the show.

Online users who saw the viral posts were moved to see such a huge support to the upcoming boy group, to the point the members were escorted by a security team to control the mob.

Unfortunately, the situation turned unpleasant after the outlet Newsen revealed through a footage that the woman in a black mask with long hair was supposedly a sasaeng, and not a bodyguard, contrary to her actions.

"This is funny. That woman wearing a black mask isn't a staff member, she's a fan girl," wrote X user @/dduuuu__.

"This girl is originally a BAE173 fan. She is also taking the lead there. I also thought she was a staff at first," commented a user.

"Sadly, this isn't the first time I've seen sasaengs acting like staff," another fan wrote.

A fan on X also said, "just watching cye get mobbed at the airport made me so anxious. i can't imagine what it felt like for them... y'all are sick."

As of the writing, the video has surpassed 10 million views.

Fans were disturbed by how poor the security was for CYE, urging them to prompt UNCORE to do their job better to avoid similar incident in the future.
