DPR IAN recently went on Instagram Live to talk about a variety of things currently going on, but notably opened up about his traumatizing time as a K-pop idol. This isn’t the first time he’s mentioned it (more on that later), but while I thought I had covered it before, apparently that isn’t the case, so this is as good a time as any.
Anyway, if you didn’t know, DPR IAN used to be C-CLOWN’s Rome under Yedang Entertainment, and he talked about being dehumanized, having fights, and being blackmailed during his time as an idol.
@wassupann he talked about his old days when he became an idol. the slave contract etc @DPR IAN 🫂🫂🫂 you went through a lot 😭😭😭 this is from right now, today insta live 241115 #dprian #christianyu #yubarom #mitoisreal ♬ original sound – Ann✨As mentioned, he also talked about this on the Zach Sang Show in 2022, discussing signing his life away, describing it as “absolute hell”, said he was treated as a literal product, and spoke on the mental and physical after effects the industry leaves.
Readers of this site probably aren’t surprised, but I do think a lot of newer fans mostly have experience with the bad treatment by current standards (and it’s bad, yes) and the major companies have painted over enough of the terrible stuff to be palatable to most, but man the industry used to have these kids in the absolute trenches.
