BABYMONSTER is back with their first studio album!

On November 1 at 1 p.m. KST, BABYMONSTER unveiled their first full-length album “DRIP” along with their double title tracks “CLIK CLAK” and “DRIP,” which BIGBANG’s G-Dragon participated in writing the lyrics for.

On November 1, BABYMONSTER held a press conference to talk about their latest album. Chiquita expressed their excitement to present a new side of the group, and Ruka conveyed BABYMONSTER’s resolve to showcase their own spin of YG’s vibes.

Regarding the decision to promote double title tracks, Asa shared, “At first, ‘DRIP’ was the sole title track, but as you will soon be able to see, all the songs are so great. So while talking to the company, we thought it would be such a shame to only film a music video for ‘DRIP,'” mentioning how “CLIK CLAK” was the first time all seven members took on the challenge of rapping for a song.

During the press conference, the members took time to highlight some of the songs in the album. Rora shared that “Love, Maybe” is their only slow song in the album, while Pharita explained that “Billionaire” is an addictive song with Y2K vibes. Asa and Ruka participated in writing the lyrics of “Love In My Heart,” which Asa described as a fun song to sing as an encore song at the end of a concert. The duo further brought attention to their rap unit song “Woke Up In Tokyo,” which features fun lyrics fans can look forward to.

Regarding their recent performance at 2NE1’s “WELCOME BACK” concerts as guest performers, Rami shared, “From just standing on the stage and watching 2NE1, we learned a lot. It was really an honor, and it was an opportunity to mature even further.”

Rora also talked about G-Dragon’s participation on their title track “DRIP.” She remarked, “When we first heard the news, of course, everyone was really surprised,” expressing hopes to repay his efforts by showcasing their hard work. She added, “When we heard G-Dragon’s demo, we tried hard to capture his swag and style.”

Rami further revealed that through their upcoming promotions at music broadcast, BABYMONSTER will continue to use hand mics to showcase their strength of singing and rapping live. Rora explained, “While thinking of how we can enjoy the stage more with the fans, we suggested using hand mics, and thankfully fans enjoyed that.”

Regarding the album as a whole, Ahyeon shared, “When I practice, I tend to just listen to all the songs on one album. I think this album will become like a playlist you can turn on without any hesitation.”

In addition to talking about wanting to emulate BLACKPINK’s stage presence at concerts when asked about their upcoming world tour, Rora stated, “We want to become a group that communicates with fans in a fun way.” Touching on the recent successes of YG artists on the charts, Rora added, “We are also really enjoying the songs by our senior artists. As junior artists under YG Entertainment, it would be a dream to have good results on the charts.”
