On September 23, former After School member Bekah posted a video on Instagram with the caption, “K-Pop and Weight.”

She shared her experience with extreme appearance management while she was a part of a girl group.
During my time in K-Pop, I’ve always struggled with my weight. I had different diets and was obsessed with a specific look and size, making everything unsustainable.

Recalling her past dieting, she stated, “Back then, I didn’t know how to lose weight properly.”
Now, she maintains her body by building muscle, eating healthy, and getting enough sleep.
It took time (and I’m still learning every day), but my biggest lesson is never to give up and respect your body.

Meanwhile, Bekah, born in 1989, debuted as After School’s main rapper in 2009 and left the group in 2011.
She later returned to her hometown of Hawaii to study design and recently announced her marriage.
Extreme dietary restrictions are widespread among K-Pop idols, and the “one-food diet” method is becoming increasingly popular.
Kwon Eun Bi, also known as the “Waterbomb Goddess,” confessed that she would eat apple slices hourly when she was obsessed with dieting.
Some idols took the extreme route, such as TWICE’s Momo, who confessed to losing 7 kg (15 lbs) in 10 days, by going to the gym while eating only ice cubes.

These extreme diets can pose serious health risks and require special attention.
