Girl Group Becomes The First K-Pop Group To Join “No Music for Genocide”

A month after the launch of “No Music for Genocide,” a popular act has become the first K-Pop group to join the movement: Kep1er. On October 11, fans spotted Kep1er’s name on the historic list of artists backing the boycott initiative protesting Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

“No Music for Genocide” calls on artists to stand in solidarity with Palestine by blocking access to their music in Israel. The BBC reports that more than 67,000 Palestinian people have been killed since October 2023 (including more than 18,000 children), and the people of Gaza have faced an ongoing humanitarian crisis. To join the movement, artists must use geo-blocking measures to remove their music from Israeli streaming platforms. According to the official website FAQ, each artist on the list is manually verified and added by the movement organizers to ensure claims are legitimate.

Since Kep1er joined the list, K-Pop fans across social media have showered the group with praise. Many are cheering on the group for “standing up” at a time when the entertainment industry worldwide has been notably silent.

Several fans have also expressed their hope that other K-Pop groups will join the movement. While idols such as FIFTY FIFTY’s Chanelle and THE BOYZ’s Kevin have recently been seen showing their support for Palestine, Kep1er is the only Korean group on the list so far.

“No Music for Genocide” launched in September 2025 with 400 initial participants, including notable acts like Japanese British singer Rina Sawayama and Irish rap group Kneecap. Since then, the initiative has attracted even more well-known names, with New Zealand singer Lorde, American rock band Paramore, and Icelandic singer Björk among the 1,000 acts currently participating.

Kep1er’s co-management agencies, Klap Entertainment and WAKEONE, have yet to make any comment on the boycott. The girl group now joins BÉBE YANA, a singer and former member of EvoL, who was the first Korean act to join the movement when it launched last month.
