HYBE has been accused of plagiarizing aespa with the teaser for KATSEYE‘s upcoming release called, “Gnarly.”

HYBE Accused Of Plagiarizing aespa — Sparks Mixed Reactions

Yet, KATSEYE Lara‘s recent posts seemingly hinting at the claims have been met with hugely divided reactions.

Following the debate, Lara was seen being active on Weverse, which isn’t too unusual for the star. She said she wanted to do a song cover, asking for suggestions. In particular, netizens thought by mentioning “Drama” as an option, she was alluding to the allegations as it was that song that netizens thought the teaser plagiarized.

When the screenshot was shared in a now-deleted viral tweet, Lara was hit with major criticism. Although some were just criticism about how the reaction would be different if another idol did it and that it was inappropriate, some were malicious and aimed personal attacks at Lara.

She is aespa's fan so I don't have anything against her but if the situation were flipped and any aespa member said this instead they would be called all sorts of names https://t.co/wDW33MeTvF

This nugu needs to pipe the fuck down. Karina alone is more popular and relevant than all of katseye members combined. https://t.co/p7vVEbqWw6 pic.twitter.com/nZOIWSQQiy

Let a bp member or njz or aespa member post something like this the same funky ass hybe stans would be calling them every name in the book but since it's this cringe hook nose bitch they're hyping her corny ass up also Lara honey you did know wtf KIOF did lmao https://t.co/lEU9VA5krX

It’s kinda disrespectful if you ask me . Like as a professional idol you’re supposed to ignore the fanwars but instead she’s being shady with her fuckass fans

an artist acting shady towards another artist because of their fandoms fanwars making it even bigger and hybe stans calling it funny and iconic…. i have to laugh cuz imagine if it was the other way around LOL https://t.co/SE20ot4WuX

aespa should start publicly shaming these hybe groups https://t.co/90EbOIMLjg

— cow (@anovacow) April 25, 2025

Netizens quickly defended Lara explaining that not only was she a fan of aespa but if she was acknowledging what was being said online, the shade was towards the fans. Many added that fans always want idols to stand up and call out behavior, but when Lara did it, they found it wrong and criticized her maliciously.

there’s nothing wrong with what lara is saying cause she’s not being shady towards aespa just their fuckass fans? she’s always shown that group love but their fans are denying her and her group’s talent and culture over a red carpet. i think she deserves to clock you weirdos! https://t.co/vubGa0Jkw2

I would be mad too if the only time my idol speak up is to apologize for a relationship. and she isn’t dragging aespa but mys who drag literally every group #unprovoked. https://t.co/ViqoXS7n07 pic.twitter.com/SgWxvaNhOJ
