A K-Pop audition show winner revealed that health issues were behind the controversy over her vocal ability.
On the broadcast of MBC’s The Number Ones on the 8th, singer Park Jimin (also known as Jamie), the winner of SBS’s K-Pop Star, opened up about the health problems and struggles she has faced. Previously, unlike her explosive vocal performances that drew attention in the past, she showed somewhat unstable singing on the competition stage of that program, remaining in the lower ranks and puzzling netizens.

That day, Park Jimin said, “It’s been about three years since I last did music and sang,” adding, “I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and am still undergoing treatment.” She continued, “I also had vocal cord nodules multiple times. Even notes I usually don’t miss sounded unstable or off-pitch.”
She shared honestly, “I took a long break from singing and had many doubts, even wondering if music was my path.”

However, she said the support from fans became a great source of strength. Park Jimin said, “Because fans worried a lot about me, I felt the desire to get back on stage and sing soon,” adding, “I decided to show them again through The Number Ones. I think it’s okay to take it one step at a time.”
Following the revelation of this story, netizens also continued to send words of encouragement. They expressed sympathy and support, saying, “It must have been so hard to take a three-year break from music due to thyroid disease and vocal nodules,” “Those who understand how difficult hypothyroidism is know this,” and “Just participating even with a bad throat condition shows great courage.”
