While sometimes unfortunate, K-Pop groups do lose members throughout their activities. Sometimes, these removals and withdrawals happen without any reason given, while others, both warranted and not, leave because of their alleged actions.

230910-RIIZE-Seunghan-documents-2 (1)Seunghan’s departure from RIIZE has been massively protested.

Usually, the music created by these groups will be altered for live performances, but official releases of re-recordings are less often shared. Recently, a boy group’s announcement of them doing just that sparked some debate.

In 2019, the boy group ONEUS debuted under RBW as a six-membered group.

In 2022, then-leader Ravn was involved in a cheating and gaslighting scandal, where an anonymous person claiming to be a fan-turned-ex-girlfriend said that the idol had cheated on her, allegedly threatened her, and other serious allegations.

RBW first placed Ravn on hiatus to “investigate,” but the former member was announced to have decided to leave the group shortly after. Since then, ONEUS has promoted as a five-membered group.

Recently, ONEUS announced the release of a special album titled Dear. M, which will include new songs. In addition to the new tracks, the album was revealed to include several of their past lead singles as “Penta Versions.”

Penta means five, and other aspects of the album have also referenced the number, leading many to assume that the “Penta” versions are re-recordings featuring the five current members.

Many expressed excitement over this, appreciating that they could listen to these versions without Ravn.

FUCK YEAH!!! 🥳 I wish more groups could do stuff like this! https://t.co/STw9SfVnwI

Others felt that the re-recordings were unnecessarily done and “disrespectful,” likely considering that Ravn participated in the writing and composing of several of the songs.

I want to fucking cry, this is so disrespectful, sending a horribly wrong message to further please the haters and sasaengs… Them going to the military will bring such peace. They deserve so much better. Everyone who's happy didn't care for ONEUS from the start. https://t.co/HJ6rMo5Nid

Oh. Yeah no. I don't care anymore. Fuck you RBW. https://t.co/ZoZadpWkOb

This feels like an insult, I’ve been a Tomoon from the start. We didn’t need the old songs to be released without him. RBW only cares about sasaengs. This is beyond disrespectful, I will not be listening to them. 😑 #ONEUS #RBW #RAVN https://t.co/RgCsLx8tpv
