TVING has confirmed the return of its hit original series Yumi’s Cells Season 3, releasing a teaser poster on March 11 that offers fans a first glimpse of the upcoming season.
The poster features the bright, cheerful smile of Kim Go-eun, who reprises her role as the beloved character Yumi.
The series, set to premiere on April 13, marks the long-awaited continuation of the popular drama after a three-year hiatus. Directed by Lee Sang-yeop and written by Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran, the show is produced by Studio Dragon, Merrycow, and Studio N.
The Yumi’s Cells franchise gained widespread recognition for its unique storytelling approach, becoming the first Korean drama to blend live-action storytelling with 3D animation. The creative format allowed viewers to see the emotions inside Yumi’s mind through animated “cells,” adding humor and warmth to her everyday life and romantic experiences. Its relatable portrayal of love, personal growth, and daily struggles helped the drama earn strong praise from audiences.
Season 3 picks up with Yumi after she has successfully achieved her dream of becoming a writer. However, her once lively “cell village” has grown quiet—until an unexpected person suddenly enters her routine and stirs up a wave of new emotions. The unpredictable encounter reignites her inner world, bringing back excitement, laughter, and the possibility of romance.

Alongside Kim Go-eun, rising actor Kim Jae-won joins the cast as Ssun-rok, a gentle yet unpredictable PD working at Julie Literature’s editorial office. The story follows the dynamic between Yumi, now a successful romance novelist who still finds love complicated, and Ssun-rok, the charming editor who unexpectedly becomes part of her life. Their developing relationship is expected to deliver a heart-fluttering older-woman-younger-man romance.
The teaser poster hints at the emotional journey ahead with the phrase, “It’s been a while since my heart felt this soft.” Fans will also see the return of the beloved animated cells—including Love, Writer, Emotion, and Pride cells—that reflect Yumi’s thoughts and feelings. A new cell wearing a heart and holding the number “3” has also appeared, symbolizing the upcoming season and sparking curiosity about the new adventures awaiting the cell village.
Additional cast members include Jeon Seok-ho, Choi Daniel, Jo Hye-jung, Mi-ram, and Park Se-in. Special appearances by Sung Ji-ru, Yoon Yoo-sun, and Lee Yoo-bi are also expected to add excitement to the new season.
Yumi’s Cells Season 3 will premiere on April 13 with two episodes released every Monday at 6 p.m. on TVING. The drama will also air on tvN every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m.
