Netflix‘s mega successful animated action-comedy Kpop Demon Hunters has become such an iconic movie that even K-Pop idols are not safe from its virality. Even the biggest names in the industry have participated in trends related to the movie, including its dance challenges.

In recent weeks, idols like BTS‘s J-Hope, MAMAMOO‘s Moonbyul, ZEROBASEONE, and many more have participated in the “Soda Pop” dance challenge, each of them garnering millions of views on social media platforms. While some of them went for a more humourous take, others did their best to remain faithful to the original choreography.

While fans of each of these artists are of the opinion that their favorite idols did the challenge best, the original choreographer of the song has named her pick.
Lee Jung, the popular K-Pop choreographer, who has worked with the likes of TWICE, BLACKPINK, and BTS, recently talked about her contribution to the Kpop Demon Hunters choreographies, including “Soda Pop.” As the creator of the original “shoulder dance,” Lee mentioned that in her eyes, there was a clear winner among all the idols who participated in the dance challenge.

Lee mentioned that among all the idols, ASTRO member Cha Eunwoo‘s “Soda Pop” challenge was the most memorable for her. In fact, the dancer admitted that the movie’s male protagonist, Jinu from Saja Boys, was actually modeled after Eunwoo.
I actually modeled Saja Boys’ Jinu after Cha Eunwoo. If Jinu were a real person, I imagine he’d just be like him.

Cha Eunwoo performed a brief dance cover of “Soda Pop” during his fanmeeting event, THE ROYAL, on July 12, KST. Dressed in an elegant prince-like outfit, he executed the key part of the choreography effortlessly, bursting into a shy laughter afterwards.
