The much-controversial K-Pop survival show, UNDER FIFTEEN, is reportedly going to be aired soon.
According to a report by TenAsia on August 8, KST, the show has partnered with KBS after being dropped by MBN due to its child sexualization controversies. However, the show will not be premiering in Korea.
Instead, the survival program featuring minors exclusively under the age of fifteen will be broadcast in Japan. The show will premiere under a new name, Star Is Born, on August 11, 4:50 pm (local time) on KBS Japan.
KBS Japan is a KBS subsidiary that airs Korean content locally in Japan. The network recently promoted the show’s upcoming broadcast by launching trailers and advertisements on YouTube.
UNDER FIFTEEN, which was originally supposed to air in Korea, faced numerous controversies ever since its concept was made public. It received scathing backlash from netizens due to issues ranging from the extremely young age of the trainees to growing concerns of exploitation of minors by TV producers.
