SM Entertainment Threatens Legal Action Against Malicious Posts Targeting Taeyeon

SM Entertainment has announced legal action against malicious posts targeting Girls' Generation member and soloist Taeyeon.

On December 2, the agency uploaded an announcement in Korean, addressing the legal plans it is currently processing to protect the "Letter to Myself" singer from comments containing defamation, insults, and sexual harassment.

The company also enumerated several online platforms and communities, which have been monitored for malicious content and remarks targeting the singer. SM then shared that suspects had been identified during the investigation and that at least two culprits were charged.

"We would like to inform everyone about the current process in our legal plans on the malicious posts targeting our artist Taeyeon, who has received defaming remarks, insults, and sexual harassment."

"Based on the proof that we have gathered, we have filed and will continue to file complaints with the enforcement of the law."

SM Entertainment also gave certain measures for charged minors and adults. Minors are required to write handwritten apologies under the supervision of their parents. Meanwhile, adult suspects are required to pay a fine.

SM also added, "We will continue to monitor online communities, SNS, and portal sites containing malicious comments, baseless rumors, and personal attacks on Taeyeon. Our legal response will be implemented without any leniency and we will do so to protect our artists."
