Super Junior’s Siwon has continued to spark controversy with his recent actions.

The idol has been the center of controversy due to his recent political posts, beginning with one about American right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

Fan reaction has continued to grow increasingly hostile, especially after another controversial post from the idol.
Recently, Siwon shared a video from the account @reformedbychrist, with the caption “Nigerian Christian’s refuse to give up their faith after Islamists burned their church to the ground.” Netizens shared that it was racist and Islamophobic, also citing how hypocritical it was to post hateful things like this, considering his stance on the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Following the backlash, Siwon shared an apology on a fan chatting platform the next day, explaining his reasoning for making the post.
After sharing a related video about Nigerian Christians yesterday, there have been many discussions.
I also realize that if someone were to watch the video without any explanation, there could have been room for misunderstanding.
I sincerely apologize for causing concern.
According to official statistics, in Nigeria alone in 2025, about 7,000 Christians lost their lives, and more than 7,000 others were kidnapped. (The extremist armed group Boko Haram and its faction ISWAP [Islamic State West Africa Province] have been targeting local facilities, churches, and residents, committing acts of terror, abduction, and massacre.)
As a fellow Christian, I was deeply grieved by this suffering. I prayed for the victims and their families, and because so few people in the world know about these tragic facts, I wanted to spread the word that help from Christian associations worldwide is urgently needed. I even moved personally to help. And now, within Korea as well, more articles and attention are beginning to arise.
I think this time, simply watching the video could easily have led to misunderstandings.
To be clear, it is absolutely not my intention to incite religious hatred or to disparage Muslims.
Moreover, I do not in any way support violence committed in the name of any religion.
The world we live in is a place where people of different backgrounds and faiths must live together with love and respect.
What we need in this age is not misunderstanding, hatred, or extremism toward one another, but respect, understanding, and love.
If you ever have questions, I hope you will feel free to ask me anytime.
Once again, I sincerely apologize for causing harm through misunderstanding and hurting people. I am truly sorry.
— Siwon
The apology was not received, with netizens calling out the idol’s words as hypocritical.

Is this what you call justifying your disgraceful act? Every time you repeat the same mistake and come back with an apology, as if the ELF are just a toy in your hands. May God curse you, you pathetic fool. #SIWON_OUT pic.twitter.com/cN2NhCajka
