TXT‘s latest musical release is facing allegations of copying SHINee‘s Taemin.

On May 2, TXT made their comeback with a digital single titled “Love Language,” their first release in several months. The track is pop and has been a welcome return to TXT’s more whimsical-sounding comebacks for many fans.
The same day, TXT held their first comeback performance on Music Bank, during which fans saw the entirety of the choreography.
While many fans have shared positive reactions to the release, there have been accusations of plagiarism directed at the release.
In the choreography for “Love Language,” there is a portion where the members put their hands under their shirts, exposing their abs. Some have found this to be too similar to the point move of Taemin’s “Guilty.”

Additionally, some have compared other aspects of TXT’s release to Taemin’s concept for “Guilty,” as proof of the SHINee member being copied.
It's not the first time Taemin's performances or works have served as inspiration for HYBE, but it seems Guilty is a particular favorite.

As a result, some have brought up the HYBE documents and their mention of Taemin. In the leaked documents, Taemin’s release and concept were described as “shota-like,” or mimicking media focusing on attracting young boy characters.
While many netizens have made it clear they do not blame TXT themselves, they have called out HYBE over the similarities.

Hybe dragged taemin for his concept calling it ped0 material but they didn't hesitate to draw some "inspiration" from it, from the choreo to the concept photos. If the roles were reversed taemin would have been dragged by hybe fans for weeks, as it happened already. https://t.co/KC6hNDk5Ot pic.twitter.com/g3Nant7h4S

On the other hand, fans of TXT have shared their thoughts, with some expressing they do not believe any plagiarism took place.
kpoptwt learns a new word and runs with it cus anyone with a functioning brain can see that txt is doing a heartbeat movement (which was also done by jhope in EARLY 2023) so how the hell did we get to plagiarizing guilty when taemin’s movement wasn’t a heartbeat?? 😭 https://t.co/GKKeg5hKNE pic.twitter.com/zhQX1RnqhQ

why are people mad that soobin is lifting his shirt just because taemin also did it? he did not invent lifting shirts for christs sake 😭 https://t.co/OyCjDvFo7D

i fear if you can’t tell what makes this move obviously different from the other choreo in question that’s a personal problem 🥱 https://t.co/0gxWEWex7w

With the added context of the HYBE Internal documents, it is understandable why some have pointed out the similarities out of a desire to see their favorite star respected.
