Wendy Shares Heartfelt Message After Parting Ways with SM Entertainment, Vows to Continue as Red Velvet Member

On April 4, Red Velvet’s Wendy reached out to fans via the Bubble platform, expressing her sincere thoughts after the announcement of her departure from SM Entertainment.

“First, I wanted to personally greet the Luvies who must have been surprised by the news today,” she began.

Wendy confirmed the end of her exclusive contract with SM, the agency that launched her career and supported her as a member of Red Velvet.

“SM has been with us for a long time and helped make me who I am today. I’m now preparing to embrace a new environment and challenge.”

She went on to thank the SM family for giving her the chance to debut and for years of support, and expressed deep gratitude to ReVeluvs, saying:

“Every moment with you was precious. Because of your warm love and encouragement, I was able to keep taking steps forward.”

Wendy shared that her decision came from a desire to explore new challenges on her own, adding:

“I also want to sincerely thank my beloved members who supported this choice. With them by my side, I feel more confident stepping into the future.”

Reassuring fans, she stated:

“Red Velvet is more precious to me than anything else. I will continue to be Red Velvet’s Wendy and show you new sides of myself. I’m carefully considering a new company that will support both my individual growth and Red Velvet’s group activities.”

Earlier, SM Entertainment confirmed the conclusion of Wendy and Yeri’s contracts, while Irene, Seulgi, and Joy have renewed with the company. SM also stated that Red Velvet’s group activities will continue as planned, keeping the iconic five-member lineup intact.

As Wendy steps into a new chapter, she carries with her the love of fans and the bond with her members, promising that this is just the beginning of more to come.
