Will Jinu Return? “KPop Demon Hunters” Actor Ahn Hyo Seop Weighs In On Jinu’s Fate

He discussed his character’s future and more in a new interview.

Sony‘s KPop Demon Hunters became an overnight success, with millions of viewers falling in love with the film’s catchy music and unforgettable characters.

Actor Ahn Hyo Seop plays Jinu, a 400-year-old demon-turned-idol who is haunted by his past. Jinu initially plans to take down HUNTR/X, a girl group of demon hunters, in exchange for the villain, Gwi Ma, erasing his painful memories. However, things get complicated when Jinu realizes that one of the demon hunters, Rumi, is part demon.

After betraying Rumi at the film’s climax, Jinu sacrifices himself to save her and the rest of humanity. This bittersweet moment has fans begging for a sequel in which Jinu and Rumi get a second chance at a happy ending.

Even Arden Cho, who voices Rumi, wants Jinu to make a comeback. In an interview, she told Variety that she hopes the sequel will bring Jinu back, and she’s not the only cast member who feels that way.

Recently, US Today interviewed Ahn Hyo Seop about his role, the film’s success, and Jinu’s potential return. “I stan them too,” he said, referring to Jinu and Rumi. “I think it’s about the pain and the agony that they had. I feel like it’s about the company, like you can’t solve your problems alone. You have to have somebody beside you, and they had the biggest connection.”

Originally, Ahn didn’t imagine that Jinu would come back, given how his story ended, but he’d like to see him return. “I mean, Jinu gave his soul, so, like, I never really imagined how he would come back. As someone who loves Jinu as a fan too, of course I would love to see him come back. But it’s not up to me.”
