IU was previously reported to the CIA by an individual, who complained about the singer's support for the impeachment protests in South Korea. Eventually, a suspected YouTuber who openly disclosed the letter's composition faced backlash on social media for her actions.

On December 18, Americanparangi uploaded a video, titled, "IU was reported to the CIA in the United States." The woman in the video stated, "You guys know IU, right? The very famous singer? She's supporting people who are protesting against Yoon Suk Yeol."

She continued:

"She's even providing food for them and even making the vibe that they have to go out and protest wow how kind and nice she is. I think she's making people feel like they need to go out and protest because she wants Yoon to be impeached."

"I wanted to help her too. I want her idea to be spread to a lot of people so I told the CIA about what she's doing. Not just me, I want you guys to report her as well."

Netizens were outraged by the YouTuber's comments, causing them to express their disdain on community forums.

"She's clearly mentally unstable," one stated.

A second one commented, "She's just attention-seeking for views. Just don't give her any attention."

Here's how netizens reacted on X (formerly Twitter).
