Recently, Billboard shared a video speaking to people about female artists’ viral performances. One of those featured BLACKPINK’s Jennie and a clip used for “lazy” accusations, where they spoke to netizens who said, “She was always like that for years, maybe just her face, her emotions, her attitude.”

Netizens shared fury at Billboard for the video, especially considering the publication’s past with Jennie, including features and events with the idol.

Using haters’ videos in your report to misrepresent her actions is unprofessional and contradicts Billboard’s journalistic standards and decades-long legacy.
Apologize to Jennie!

i wondered how disgusting characterless you have to be to take 5-second videos of a 2-hour concert to embarrass a woman and gain likes from antis on X? jennie deserves an apology, she’s also a human being like anyone else and doesn't deserve this inhumane hate. @billboard

Dear @billboard Editorial Team,
We want to express our deep concern and disappointment regarding a recent video article published on your platform, attributed to journalist Leah La Rosa, which features a deceptively edited clip of Jennie from BLACKPINK. The video amplifies a few… pic.twitter.com/f1qwYhcf6u

this is so disrespectful and unprofessional especially when you are using a video that is completely taken out of context. you literally had her on your cover not that long ago and had her attending one of your events. no jennie no clicks I guess https://t.co/yGCwscgi5z pic.twitter.com/FnFhsviHVX

billboard crowned Jennie as woman of the year, just to turn around and spread weird agendas about her without any proper context https://t.co/Nh7YKDGtZz

Yet, while Billboard eventually deleted the video, netizens demanded an apology or some kind of statement regarding the video.

deleting the post is not enough. you need to fix the damage you caused and apologize to jennie and her fans for using edited clip that was cut on purpose to create a fake narrative that YOU guys helped spreading.

In particular, the person conducting the video garnered backlash, and her social media was full of angry fans. The reporter then shared a statement explaining that she didn’t know BLACKPINK and was hired for the day to do the interviews, but netizens wanted an apology for the video.

I hate this like people just do anything & act like they love her when they start to face backlash so annoying @billboard you will keep losing your credibility because you don’t verify hope you stop using her name for clicks too pic.twitter.com/tUuggwUkGW
