On June 23, a petition titled Request for sanction on restriction of appearance on KBS regarding Suga’s DUI was posted on the KBS Viewer Petition Bulletin Board.
The petitioner demanded that KBS hold a broadcast appearance regulation review committee to discuss and decide on sanctions for BTS’s Suga and his DUI.
BTS Suga’s Drunk Driving Case Officially Sentenced With A Fine
Last year, Suga was ordered to pay a fine of 15,000,000 KRW ($~11,007.65 USD) for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated. It was reported that his blood alcohol level was measured at the level of license revocation (0.08% or higher).
“Drunk driving is a serious crime that can cause direct harm to others. He is a public figure who has a significant influence on young people, and there is concern that appearing on TV with such influence could lower social awareness of drunk driving crimes.
KBS did not hold a review committee because the investigation results were not released after the incident. He was discharged from the military on June 21, 2025, and the fine was confirmed on September 27, 2024. Please hold a review committee ASAP to secure your viewers’ trust and fulfill your responsibility as a public broadcast company.”

Meanwhile, KBS has been regulating broadcasting people who have caused controversy through illegal acts. Actor Kwak Do Won, the late Kim Sae Ron, and singer Kim Ho Joong have been temporarily suspended from KBS due to drunk driving.
On the other hand, with Suga’s discharge, all members of BTS have completed their military service. Attention is focused on whether BTS as a whole will return to the music industry.
