NCT WISH, the final unit to debut under the NCT universe, has captured the hearts of fans not only through their music but also with their unique and charming concept. A key part of their identity is the overarching storyline that positions the members as celestial beings who grant wishes. This narrative is woven into their brand, creating a strong and memorable impression on fans and solidifying their status as trendsetters of their generation.

One of the most iconic elements of their concept is the representative group plushie, WICHU. A combination of “WISH” and “chuu”, the Korean onomatopoeia for kiss, making the star-shaped character an integral aspect of their identity. WICHU has been featured in a number of their music videos and is included into their physical albums, merchandise, and social media promotions, becoming a beloved symbol of the group.

Beyond WICHU, each member has their own individual plushie and representative emoji, giving NCTzens (NCT’s fandom) another fun way to connect with them. These distinctive characters are designed based on the members’ unique animal resemblance and design of choice. 1. Sion

As the leader of NCT WISH, Sion carries a huge responsibility, from guiding the members to being the group’s main representative. His plushie doll, Sioning, is a nine-tailed fox (Gumiho), a creature known in Korean folklore for being charismatic and sharp. The plushie’s peach color is thought to be related to the ‘Tears Are Falling’ music video, where Sion is featured holding a peach in the thumbnail – one of his favorite fruits. This reflects Sion’s visuals and keen observation to detail. His representative emoji is a tulip, symbolizing his graceful and flower-like appearance.

2. Riku

Riku serves as one of the group’s rappers, known for his strong and distinct style. His representative plushie, Kuri, is named after a popular nickname for Riku. The black cat embodies Riku’s contrasting charms: a cool and chic persona on stage and a lovable, playful member off stage. This gap in his personality has captivated many fans. His cheerful expressions are often likened to a squirrel, which led to the squirrel emoji becoming his representative symbol. Interestingly, “kuri” is Japanese for “acorn”, which may also be a reason for the plushie’s name!

3. Yushi

Yushi is known as the group’s main dancer, with his sharp moves and commanding stage presence. His representative plushie is called Bubblenyang, a name that combines “bubble tea” and “nyang”, the Korean onomatopoeia for a cat’s meow. Yushi and Riku are often compared to cats because of their contrasting personalities. While Riku’s gap is between his on- and off-stage personas, Yushi’s is most noticeable before and after he eats. His designated emoji is a star to represent his shining and eye-catching visuals on stage.

4. JaeHee

JaeHee is the group’s main vocalist, and his nickname is “puppy”, which inspired his plushie, Daengtriever. The name is a blend of “Daeng” (from his birth name, Daeyoung) and the dog breed “retriever”. He earned this nickname for his friendly, loyal, and warm personality. This energy is also reflected in his representative emoji, the tree. He chose this symbol to represent his potential to grow in the industry and provide unwavering support for both his members and fans. His powerful and stable vocals are a testament to his warm and dependable nature.

5. Ryo

Ryo is the sub-vocalist and one of the youngest members of the group. His childlike energy is channeled through his plushie, a puppy named Ronron, inspired by his favorite childhood doll, TonTon. This doll was even featured in their ‘Wishful Winter’ music video. The plushie perfectly captures Ryo’s youthful and playful personality. His representative emoji, however, is a seal, as many fans believe he resembles the animal, especially when he smiles. 6. Sakuya
