A famous idol husband revealed that he once refused to let his wife hold their own baby after she gave birth, but the reason was not what it might sound like at first.

The idol in question was H.O.T.’s Moon Heejun, who recently opened up about the intense early days of parenting with his wife, Crayon Pop’s Soyul.

On June 12, 2026 (KST), in a new video uploaded to their YouTube channel, Moon Heejun spoke honestly about how difficult it was for both him and Soyul after the birth of their first child, Moon Hee Yul, affectionately known as Jam Jam.

Raising a baby is really hard, and my wife had a very hard time, too. There were times when she cried alone in between. Neither of us could sleep. For me, what really made me anxious was that I would put Jam Jam to sleep and then fall asleep with her on my chest. That happened a lot. Parenting itself felt like a battlefield.

Moon Heejun then explained that, while husbands should be the first source of support, it also helps to have people around who understand the reality of parenting. “I think if you have people around you who know how hard it is, it helps relieve some of it. First, that person is your husband. But even that might not be enough, so I think it’s necessary to talk to married friends too,” he said.

He then revealed that he struggled deeply during the first 100 days after their daughter Jam Jam was born. “When we had Jam Jam, I developed parenting depression. It was extremely hard until she was 100 days old,” Moon Heejun confessed. He explained that his decision to take on a hefty load of the child care came from concern for Soyul’s postpartum recovery.
I didn’t even let [Soyul] hold her until she was 100 days old. I bathed her and changed her clothes myself. I heard that after giving birth, women’s wrists become weak, so I said I would be the one to hold her no matter what for 100 days. I basically poured all of my energy into it.

Thankfully, the challenging newborn days are now long behind them. Jam Jam has since grown up in the spotlight through family television appearances, and the couple later welcomed a second child as their family continued to grow!

Moon Heejun and Soyul got married in 2017 despite their 13-year age gap.
