In a recent exclusive interview before her concert, singer Sohyang revealed that she divorced her husband about two years ago.

Sohyang, who debuted in 1996, married her now ex-husband, with whom she worked as a CCM group POS member in 1998. The two have no children and ended their marriage in 2023, after 25 years.
“I was in my early 20s. I was in such a rush that we got married without really knowing each other.
After getting married, we realized our personalities and values didn’t match up, but we endured. We then decided it was time for us to go our separate ways. After much deliberation, we mutually agreed to separate.”

Sohyang, who had kept her divorce a secret for over two years, confessed that after watching Netflix’s Kpop Demon Hunters, she decided to come clean about her divorce.
“It was a painful story, so it wasn’t easy to talk about. I was so absorbed in music production for the first time in a long time that time flew by as I worked on my first full-length album since my debut. One day, I was moved by the scene in the movie where Rumi, the main character, courageously revealed her hidden identity. At the time, I felt ashamed of myself for keeping my divorce a secret.
I vowed to myself then that if I ever had the chance to share my deepest feelings, I would confess my divorce without hiding anymore. I wanted to be as courageous as Rumi.”
