The JTBC K-Drama Heavenly Ever After recently premiered and has already attracted much attention for its premise. Heavenly Ever After follows the story of 80-year-old Lee Hae Sook, who reunites with her husband, Go Nak Joon, in heaven.
The only “issue” is that Go Nak Joon, played by Son Suk Ku, chose to be in his 30-year-old body, rather than be in his 80s.

This is one of the largest age gaps between romantic leads in a K-Drama: 42 years. Still, despite this, viewers have already sent the drama into Netflix’s most-watched category. So far, just two episodes have aired, but many were left sobbing and upset by something unexpected.
The process of entering heaven in this series has multiple steps and even includes seminar-like orientations for the newly deceased.

During her second day, Lee Hae Sook follows behind a group that includes some older-looking people, seemingly brought in by their choice to have an older appearance. Some details of the seminar register as strange for Hae Sook, but she does not realize something is off until the group heads outside.
Another group of people enters the area and seems confused. However, Hae Sook’s group runs towards the other crowd. It finally becomes clear what is going on after the crowd running turns into dogs!
In this show’s heaven, pets can take a human form and are reunited with their owners after they pass.
One of the human dogs does seem to follow the crowd, only for it to be discovered that he was a seeing-eye dog for a blind person, who then remarked that he now knew what his dog looked like.
As you can image, the thought of reuniting with deceased and beloved pets left many viewers of this scene in tears.
Even more heart-jerkingly, Hae Sook approaches three human-dogs, who share that they were strays with no one looking for them. A flashback reveals that after they were not adopted, the shelter they were at decided to euthanize them.
This clip also left many in tears over the sad reality of what happens at kill shelters.
