Two beloved K-Pop stars who have successfully transitioned into the Korean acting scene are set to play an on-screen couple in a highly anticipated K-Drama soon.
Former SF9‘s Rowoon and former IZ*ONE member Kim Minju are reportedly confirmed to lead the upcoming romance series Shining (working title).
According to reports from StarNews Rowoon will play Yeon Tae Oh, a subway driver whose life took a dramatic turn after a tragic accident at 19 that claimed his parents’ lives and left his younger sibling injured. The role was previously considered by Chae Jong Hyeop, but Rowoon has now taken the lead.
Kim Min Ju will take on the role of Mo Eun Ah, a hotel employee. The drama follows Tae Oh and Eun Ah as they reconnect at 30, ten years after going their separate ways at 20. Their story is set to explore the pain and loneliness of growing up while finding hope and connection in their reunion.
More details have been revealed on the production team as well. The K-Drama comes from writer Lee Sook Yeon, known for works like On the Way to the Airport and A Piece of Your Mind. It will be directed by Kim Yoon Jin, who previously worked on Our Beloved Summer and Not Others.
In addition to Shining, Rowoon will also appear in the Disney+ series The Murky Stream, scheduled to release in September.
