Actress Who Vanished At The Peak Of Her Career Resurfaces After Six Years With A Surprise Update

Actress Seo Woo, best known for her roles in K-Dramas like Cinderella’s Stepsister and Flames of Desire, surprised her fans with an update for the first time in six years since stepping away from the spotlight.

On September 12, 2025 (KST), the actress launched a new YouTube channel, Annyeongha-seowoo, with a video revealing glimpses of her daily life in the US. Seo Woo introduced herself, noting, “People might not know me, but a long time ago I briefly worked as an actress.”

Now, I’m starting YouTube. For Season 1, I’ll be showing my life in the U.S. Though messy, I look forward to sharing photos, videos, and my own editing. I’ll also be doing the subtitles myself, so they might be lacking, but I hope you’ll understand and still support me!

Seo Woo debuted in 2007 with the movie My Son. While she gained noteworthy popularity between 2009 and 2014 as the lead actress in multiple K-Dramas, her acting career came to a full halt around 2014.

In 2016, on SBS‘s How To Eat And Live Well, Seo Woo revealed her ongoing battle with an autoimmune disease and how she needed a break from the industry that was weighing her down.

I have an autoimmune disease. Since my immune system is weak, I would get inflammation even from being slightly tired—even inside my head. The time I took off was because I needed to recover my health.

Her last works in the Korean entertainment business was in 2019, starring in the movie The House and appearing in a Lotte ice cream commercial. Until her recent YouTube announcement, she has not had any major public activities.
