BLACKPINK member Jennie was recently embroiled in a “plagiarism” controversy for her latest release, “Like Jennie.” Within a day of the accusations surfacing, the composer that she was accused of plagiarizing from, has spoken up on the matter.

The song “Like Jennie” was teased just a day before Jennie’s solo album Ruby‘s release. From the short snippet of the song, many netizens felt that it was a copy of an Indian song titled “Rani’s Intro Theme” from the 2023 movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. The song was composed by the popular Indian music director Pritam.

As the speculations kept brewing, Pritam himself addressed the accusations through an Instagram post on March 7 (local time). He refuted the claims of plagiarism and offered his opinion on the similarity as a professional.
He also urged audiences to “see the bigger picture,” reasoning that “In today’s interconnected world, where artists share the same platforms, no one is deliberately trying to copy someone else’s work.”
Pritam’s response has been met with appreciation from fans all across the globe, as it has once and for all shut down the malicious speculations against the BLACKPINK member.
