Controversial “Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE” Star Hits Back At Backlash From Netflix Docuseries

On August 21, Netflix premiered the anticipated docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE. It follows the formation of the K-Pop-trained HYBE and Geffen Records international girl group KATSEYE ahead of the survival show The Debut: Dream Academy.

Yet, the docuseries has been met with mixed reactions since Manon was introduced. Many fans jumped to her defense, claiming she was mistreated. Several other girls featured in the docuseries, including some KATSEYE members, have been accused of treating her poorly.

Nonetheless, one of the girls most frequently criticized for Manon’s alleged mistreatment is former The Debut: Dream Academy contestant and Slovak trainee Adéla.

Adéla has received backlash after clips from Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE circulated. In them, she is featured complaining about Manon, claiming that Manon was favored with no effort and only due to visuals.

Now, Adéla has addressed the docuseries with a new TikTok video.

Firstly, Adéla thanked people for the love and support she has received since. Yet, she also addressed the critical comments and messages. She reiterated that the docuseries is only a “glimpse” at the trainees’ personal lives. Many conversations and situations didn’t make the cut since filming occurred over two years, but it was edited into eight episodes.

Adéla also revealed that she is preparing to release solo music. The video went viral, with 362.2K views at the time of writing. Many followers commented positively, defending her and anticipating the next chapter of her life.

However, Adéla also received more critical comments. Some are continuing to shade her alleged mistreatment of Manon.
