CORTIS and HYBE are embroiled in viral plagiarism allegations following the group’s debut.

A post has garnered attention. It compares three of CORTIS’s released songs in melody and production to past songs.
The three comparisons are listed below:
- CORTIS – “FaSHioN” to A$AP Rocky – “Praise the Lord”
- CORTIS – “GO!” to Travis Scott “FE!N”
- CORTIS “JoyRide” to Post Malone “Circles.”
After the post garnered attention on Instagram, it became a hot topic on theqoo.
Fans hit back at CORTIS and HYBE, saying that it was definitely a copy, hitting back at the company’s “history” of plagiarism. Yet, some defended the idols, saying that it is common for K-Pop to take influence, but acknowledged that it might be risky with the way the company is promoting CORTIS and the members’ involvement.

- That company where everything’s a lie, and the CEO whose character is trash.
- Self-producing marketing seems risky because if a plagiarism issue comes up, the member has to take responsibility.
- They [CORTIS] promoted themselves as “self-produced,” but even if it’s not outright plagiarism, how long can they last when they’re getting suspicions of copying someone else without their own color?
- It’s just HYBE being HYBE again.

- It’s just the nature of the genre lol. Songs like that are everywhere in underground hip-hop, and K-pop idols have already used them as reference LOL.
- HYBE again.
- I get that it sounds similar, but honestly, K-pop always borrows from trending pop songs overseas in a similar way. That’s why people call K-pop derivative. And looking at the trending posts lately, it’s obvious people are really trying to hold Cortis back LOL.
- It seems like just a reference, and trying out a new genre like this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
I feel like the sudden surge of criticism in the past few days shows people are trying to block Cortis from doing well. But marketing them as a “17-year-old genius producer” feels a bit off.
The topic of CORTIS’s tracks and claims of plagiarism has become a hot topic among both Korean and international fans.
