Mnet‘s beloved dance competition show, World of Street Woman Fighter, came to an end on July 22, 2025 (KST). The finale, however, has left the viewers feeling sour—especially after judge J.Y. Park (Park Jin Young of JYP Entertainment) decided to “steal the show” from the participating dancers.

The show had already generated some buzz about J.Y. Park’s eligibility as a dance competition judge. However, real criticism from frustrated viewers came flooding in when The CHOOM YouTube channel uploaded the “World Finale with JYP” performance video.
In the featured performance, J.Y. Park is seen taking center stage throughout the performance, essentially taking the focus away from the dancers and turning them into “backup dancers” for his performance:
This behavior has since been called out for being “spotlight-stealing,” especially compared to how other non-dancer celebrities in previous seasons of the show did their best to limit their presence.

Viewers also expressed disgust at J.Y. Park accepting a kiss on the cheek from AG Squad member Kaea, born 1997…
…as well as the performance being titled “Gatsby,” when, post-Seungri and the Burning Sun scandal, the Gatsby-inspired “one rich man partying with multiple women” concept has been heavily frowned upon.
The YouTube video itself saw scathing comments, shaming J.Y. Park for not knowing better.

- ” I mean, if we all felt this way, imagine how the dancers must’ve felt. They couldn’t even show how annoyed they were because he was a judge. Nothing else to say—this is straight-up power-tripping violence against the dancers.”
- “Honestly, seeing Park Jin Young yesterday taught me a big lesson. As you get older, you really need to know when to step in and when to step back. And more importantly, how not to live. I used to have mixed feelings about him, but now it’s just pure dislike. This was nothing short of disrespect—to the dancers and the viewers.”
- “Park Jin Young is not ‘World,’ not ‘Street,’ not ‘Woman,’ and not even a real ‘Fighter.’ Started scratching nerves in the first episode, then tried to play the main character by the finale. What the hell.”
- “That performance just felt incredibly disrespectful. If you truly value yourself, you should know how to treat others with value too. This is the finale they all worked so hard to get to, and you went up there with backup dancers? Don’t touch what isn’t yours, Grandpa. It really makes me wonder how he sees dancers in general.”
- “Is Mnet seriously joking right now?? You said this show was for female dancers. So how do you end the season turning world-class dancers into background dancers for Park Jin Young?? And he has zero self-awareness. He should’ve stepped aside. Get it together and actually build a show with some sanity next time.”
- “Park Jin Young was absolutely the worst—so out of touch and attention-seeking to the very end. This is the same guy who keeps writing songs about women’s body sizes, who pulls girl group idols onstage one at a time to dance with him on music shows… And now again, he put female dancers beneath him while he alone stood in a suit dancing center stage. Insane. Stuff like that belongs in your own concert, not here. And the producers—why the hell did you even approve this?? That one stage completely undermined the whole concept and purpose of Street Woman Fighter.“
Other online communities, like theqoo, also slammed the K-Pop producer for tainting the whole premise of the show, which has always been to highlight dancers.

- “Doesn’t Gatsby die from a gunshot at the end? Guess they only know up to the part where he’s partying with girls.”
- “He has become so unlikable now.”
- “That Gatsby concept, the stage, the points system—none of it fit the program at all. From start to finish, that whole stage was just weird!”
- “Can we f*cking lose the damn Gatsby already? It’s like they all have a Gatsby complex.”
- “Why can’t he read the room? Lee Soo Man still knows what’s up.”
- “They brought in top dancers from around the world and this is what they do…? It’s embarrassing. What happened to respecting the dancers?”

- “Honestly feels like watching an old manager awkwardly wedge himself into a group of new hires hanging out. What was that?”
- “He’s rich and powerful so they just give him chances when he wants them, but literally no one wants to this. We don’t want to see Park Jin Young on stage. Please stop.”
- “I freaking hate it. Sir, please leave.”
- “Didn’t watch SWF but I think it was all possible because it’s the type of show that lets a Japanese team with the rising sun flag controversy win. LOL. The whole thing is on brand, IMO.”
- “Why’d they put Park Jin Young on the judging panel for this season—ugh. Can’t believe it went like this all the way to the finale. The producers are so out of touch, seriously.”
- “I’m the real winner for not watching till the end.”
- “Doing a Gatsby concept on a WOMEN’s dance show? LOL. Seriously, what?? Just flaunting toxic masculinity in front of international dancers.”
J.Y. Park has not yet responded to the massive criticism. But with the STUDIO CHOOM channel uploading a “teaser” video for a special studio version of the same performance, also showing J.Y. Park as the center, the backlash is expected to continue.
