Boy it’s been a hell of a year for LE SSERAFIM so far, huh? But despite all the noise I’ve been relatively skeptical it would hurt them that much because fans are what matter, and if anything all the mess likely galvanized them. Still, in terms of music, their B-sides have always been more to my taste than their singles, and at least one part of that trend continues to hold with their lead track, “CRAZY“.

A club-ready “homage” to drag culture, it seems designed to have fans scream “this is for the gays” and similar, but I’m not sure why that has to mean the hook needs to be bland and the song itself needs to remain relatively one-note. The core instrumental has potential and gave me hope at the outset, but the overall performance is rather flat and I’m not sure K-pop idols can breathe life into this effectively.

Despite finding the discourse about vocals relatively meaningless myself, just removing that aspect from the equation altogether is an … uh, interesting choice in the moment. I’m sure this will do fine, but I’m not sure why I’d come back to this over other options in a similar vein.
