When an exciting, new show is announced, K-Drama fans eagerly add it to their watch lists. Unfortunately, some highly anticipated new series fell flat for viewers in July 2025.
1. Good Boy
Park Bo Gum and Kim So Hyun star in JTBC‘s Good Boy, a K-Drama about former Olympians who used their athletic talents to fight crime as special police officers. The “Olympic Avengers” combined their different background and skills to bring violent offenders to justice.

Some viewers took issue with Park Bo Gum’s unlikable character, the show’s intense violence, the lackluster romance, and the storytelling, which involved killing off one particular character.

2. The First Night With The Duke
Based on a popular webtoon, this romantic fantasy follows a college student who wakes up inside a romance novel. Everything changes after she spends a night with the novel’s male lead.
Some viewers dropped the show because of pacing issues and cliffhangers, while others weren’t loving how 2PM‘s Taecyeon played the male lead.

3. The Nice Guy
Lee Dong Wook and Lee Sung Kyung star in this K-Drama that was released on July 18. It’s about a pure-hearted man born into a family of gangsters and an aspiring singer, his first love.
Some viewers couldn’t quite pinpoint why the show didn’t hold their interest. One viewer, who found the story too “old-fashioned” and predictable, didn’t think the female lead was appealing.
