BTS' Golden Maknae has outdone himself again this year, this time with a song he released in 2023.
Apple Music has announced its yearly Global 2024 list, highlighting the biggest records of the year, with Jungkook's "Seven" appearing at #47.
The list, which tracks the most streamed songs worldwide, highlights music moguls like Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, SZA, and Future.
"Seven" featuring Latto beat out fierce competitors, like Drake's "Best I Ever Had," which placed in 42nd, SZA's "Kill Bill" (#46), and Beyonce's "TEXAS HOLD 'EM" (#49).
Jungkook, who was recently nominated for the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, is one of only three Korean acts to make the list, with the others being ILLIT's "Magnetic" and LE SSERAFIM, with their track "Perfect Night."
"Seven" was released as a single in June 2023, becoming an instant trailblazer upon release after breaking Spotify's record for the most opening-day streams for a male artist and collaboration in history as well as becoming the biggest debut in 2023.
The track catapulted Jungkook's solo career, marking the youngest member of mega group BTS as the first K-pop act to reach number one on the U.S. Spotify chart and the first Korean solo artist to debut atop the global chart.
Worldwide, the track did numbers, to say the least. "Seven" set two Guinness World Records for the Most streamed track on Spotify in one week (male and the Fastest time for a music track to reach 100 million streams on Spotify (male).
By the end of October, the track had beat out players Justin Bieber and The Kid Laroi for two additional records, the Fastest time for a music track to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify (male), previously held by the duo's "Stay" and Harry Styles' "As It Was," and overall, previously held by Miley Cyrus' "Flowers." The track achieved the win in just 109 days.
